Haley Wright

Former Osceola High softball pitcher Haley Wright recently signed a grant to Northeast Community College in Booneville, Miss.
Wright, who graduated in May, will play for coach Jody Long. The school competes in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges North Division.

“I choose Northeast because everyone was so nice,” Wright said. “All the softball girls and everyone on campus made me feel a part of a big family, and I loved that.”
Long said Wright is a good addition to his team.
“We are excited to pick up Haley for the spring,” he said. “She will add additional depth on the mound and has potential to improve. We are excited about getting her in and look forward to her competing with the other players.”
Wright was a pitcher at OHS for three seasons and also swung a powerful bat when she batted .500 and had a .769 on-base percentage as a junior.
“Haley really was a pleasant surprise for us. Toward the end of last season she was one of our most reliable pitchers,” OHS Coach George Coffey said. “The thing about Haley is that she has a great work ethic. Nothing has come easy for her. But, when she got this opportunity, she went right up there and they signed her right away.”
Wright played for Coach Keith Pereira's Osceola Overdrive travel program last summer. Her parents are Tami and Ronnie Wright.
“I would like to thank my dad, and also Keith Pereira, who has been my pitching coach since I was 12,” Wright said. “Signing to Northeast was the chance of a lifetime. I believe God would not have put this in my life for no reason, so I'm taking my chance and running with it.”
