Osceola Youth Leadership graduates 12 students

Safe Schools Healthy Students Initiative, School District of Osceola County and Community Vision announce the Osceola Youth Leadership Class of 2010 has graduated.
Twelve students from Sunnyside Children’s Home in St. Cloud spent the last semester learning valuable life skills, leadership skills and about the Osceola County community.
The program gives the students an opportunity to travel out into our community to learn about its different aspects. Residents of Sunnyside Children’s Home are part of the foster care system. The class kicked off with a ropes course at the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office course on Oct. 25 and ended with a graduation celebration Jan. 26.
Highlights of the program included team building, government, job shadowing, education, environmental issues, criminal justice, youth and senior services, economic development and emergency services.
This program is free to participants.
Sponsors include Safe Schools Healthy Students Initiative, School District of Osceola County, Park Place Behavioral Center/Sunnyside and Community Vision, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, University of Central Florida, Valencia Community College, Osceola County Fire Rescue, Osceola County Growth Management, South Florida Water Management District, St. Cloud Police Department, Osceola County Corrections, city of St. Cloud, Kissimmee Utility Authority, Kissimmee Downtown Redevelopment District, Osceola County Council on Aging, Barney E. Veal Center, Technical Education Center of Osceola, Osceola Extension Services and UCP Charter School.
