Poinciana and New Dimensions won district boys basketball championships Saturday and will host regional playoff games Thursday.

Osceola High, 22-7, lost the 5A-5 district championship game against Lake Wales, 73-42, and Life Christian Academy, 19-8, fell to Victory Christian, 46-38, in the A-7 title game Saturday. Both teams will be on the road Thursday.

Poinciana, for the second night in a row, went to overtime and beat Eustis, 56-55, for the 4A-6 title at St. Cloud High. The Eagles edged Oak Ridge in double overtime Friday in the semifinal round.

It is the first boys basketball championship in the school’s 20-year history.

Sherwood Vinson, Osanto Marc and Stefan Moody each scored 14 for Poinciana, 19-7. Lex Curry had 8, including a crucial three-point play when Poinciana trailed in the fourth quarter, and Paris Greene added 6 points.

Poinciana was behind by eight, 45-37, early in the final period before scoring seven in a row, all on put-backs underneath the Eustis basket.

Vinson’s 3-point shot tied the score at 49 to send the game into overtime. Greene hit the game winner with 1:02 left in overtime.

New Dimensions, 10-15, beat Lakeland Santa Fe, 58-48, to win the 2A-9 championship for the second year in a row.
