District hoops

Osceola defeated Lake Wales, 57-47, and Liberty stopped Sebring, 37-34, at the 5A District 5 girls basketball tournament at Haines City Tuesday. Osceola meets Winter Haven (6 p.m.) and Liberty plays Haines City (8 p.m.) Friday.

JV state wrestling

The Osceola Kowboys (178) were the runners up to Plant City Durant (182.5) at the JV State Wrestling Invitational at the OHS gym Saturday. Liberty (67) was 10th.

Osceola’s Miguel Crespo (145) and Max Tilford (152) won championships. Cody Dana (112, 2nd), Ryan Osborn (135, 4th), Frankie Torres (140, 2nd), Andrew Connors (171, 4th) and Rashad Marshall (215, 2nd) all placed. Liberty’s Angel Cruz (135, 2nd), Luis Miguel (152, 2nd), Jacob Rodriguez (160, 2nd) also placed.
