Gary Strickland, 64, of Lakeland, was killed in a single-vehicle accident east of St. Cloud just before midnight Jan. 21, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Strickland was driving a 2007 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck east on U.S. Highway 192 west of Deer Park Road at 11:27 p.m. when for an unknown reason, he veered right onto the south shoulder of the highway. Strickland attempted to correct and re-entered the roadway, crossing into the center median of Highway 192, causing the truck to crash into a sewer grate.

Due to the impact, the pickup overturned multiple times crossing into the westbound lanes of  the highway, coming to rest on the north shoulder.

Stickland was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, where he died.
