Osc. Youth Softball

The Osceola Youth Softball League will hold registration for the spring season at Oren Brown Park, 3511 Baker Dr., Kissimmee (off Hoagland Boulevard) for girls ages 4-14 from 10 a.m. to noon today.

Fees are $70 per player, which includes jersey and field equipment. All new players must provide a copy of their birth certificate to register. Coaches and assistant coaches are needed. All new players must attend assessment day today: ages 8-U at 10 a.m.; ages 10-U at 11 a.m. and ages 14-U at noon.

Softball dedication

All alumni, former players and boosters are invited to Osceola High’s softball field Feb. 11 when the complex will be dedicated in honor of Coach George Coffey.

A ceremony renaming the complex “Coffey Field” will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Osceola will play Trinity Prep, coached by Kathleen Finnucan, who, like Coffey is among the most respected figures in Florida high school softball.

Osceola High assistant coaches Fred Klammer and George Hill also will be recognized for their service to the OHS softball program.

Anyone wearing Kowboy softball shirts, jackets and uniforms will be admitted free.

Storm wrestlers win

The Celebration wrestling team beat Lake Howell, 39-33, Thursday for Senior Night at the Storm gym.

Josh Douglas (125), Skylar Lerner (135), J.J. Francis (145), Justin Temple (160), Curtis Temple (171), Cameron Ward (189), Alavaro Norena (Hvy.) all won for the Storm.

Celebration will compete at the 2A District 5 tournament at St. Cloud next week at St. Cloud. Liberty and Harmony also will compete in the district which also has defending state champ Oviedo.
