Kissimmee police detectives have arrested two men in Charlotte County in connection with a shooting Sunday evening at the Walmart store at 1471 W. Osceola Parkway in Kissimmee.

The men, identified as Shawn Townsend, 23, and Marlan Allwood, 27, were being held in Charlotte County without bond and will be extradited to Osceola County, local authorities stated. Townsend was charged with attempted felony murder and Allwood was charged with principal to attempted first-degree murder.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., officers responded to the store in reference to shots fired and upon arrival found one 18-year-old male victim shot in the leg and arm. The victim was transported to a local hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Detectives learned that the suspect and three additional witnesses were in a verbal altercation inside the store with two black male suspects. The suspects left the store and the victim and witnesses followed, continuing the altercation. While in the parking lot, one of the suspects shot at the victim and witnesses. No one else was injured during the incident. The suspects fled the scene in a silver two-door vehicle.

Kissimmee police detectives were able to obtain a partial tag of the suspects’ vehicle at the scene. Through investigative efforts, detectives found that the vehicle was registered to a female with a Port Charlotte address. Detectives contacted the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office regarding the vehicle and authorities there were able to detain two black male subjects matching the description of the suspects given in Kissimmee.

Detectives traveled to Port Charlotte to interview the suspects, who cooperated, and detectives were able to obtain evidence related to the crime. Detectives conducted a photo line-up with one of the witnesses and he positively identified Townsend and Allwood as the suspects.

Anyone with information on the suspects or the crime is asked to contact the Kissimmee Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit at 407-846-3333, by e-mail at seeitsayit@kissimmee.org or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
