Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies discovered 50 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of a vehicle Dec. 22 after stopping the driver, Antonio Rosario, 30, when the officer observed what appeared to be marijuana being thrown from the window.

Rosario also was allegedly driving the four-door 2001 silver Honda recklessly west on U.S. Highway 192.

The amount of marijuana has a street value of $40,000, according to Twis Lizasuain, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

Deputies also found a handgun stolen from Hillsborough County. The occupants of the vehicle, Rosario, Wilfredo Hance, 22, and Alexander Salcedo-Adams, 21, all from Tampa, initially did not cooperate with deputies, but eventually told them they were picking up the marijuana and taking it back to the Tampa area.

Based on the information, Rosario was charged with trafficking cannabis and driving with a suspended license. Hance was charged with possession of a concealed firearm and Adams was charged with possession of cannabis under 20 grams.

They were booked into the Osceola County Jail. All have since posted bail.
