Riley Nicholson

By Rick Pedone
Sports Editor
St. Cloud’s Riley Nicholson will play for the eighth grade USA football team Jan. 9 at the Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The game pits the best seventh- and eighth-graders from the U.S. and Canada in an all-star format.
Nicholson, a Narcoossee Middle School student, will play linebacker.
This is Nicholson’s second appearance at the game. Last year he played safety for the seventh grade East team in San Antonio.
There will be three youth bowl games played in San Antonio: a seventh-grade game, an eighth-grade game and an eighth-grade unlimited-weight game.
A special presentation of Nicholson’s game jersey was made at Narcoossee Middle in early December.
Players at the All-American Bowl game participate in skills competitions and break out sessions with former NFL stars. The players will be honored at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio Jan. 8.
Riley is the son of Carrie and Scott Nicholson, of St. Cloud. He plays Harmony Youth Football with coaches Bill Lockaby, Ken Foshee, Todd Lockaby and Vince Lord.
He will be a freshman at Harmony High next school year.
