OHS wrestlers 7-3
The Osceola High School wrestling team, despite having just 12 wrestlers and missing four starters, went 7-3 in last week’s District 16 Duals at South Dade High School.
Tim Locksmith at 125 pounds and Pete Baldwin at 145 each went 10-0 to keep their undefeated seasons (22-0 and 26-0 respectively) alive. Ben Cruz was 8-2 at 215 pounds and Alex Rivera and Chris Pagan were 7-2 and 130 and 171.
OHS defeated Braddock, 54-11; Southridge, 62-20; Southwest, 35-34; Western, 66-6; Varela, 52-19; Dwyer, 36-26; and St. Thomas Aquinas, 60-16. It fell to host South Dade, Cardinal Gibbons and Douglas 42-36.
SC lifters win
St. Cloud’s girls weightlifting team, with 51 points, won a tri-match on Dec. 16 against Poinciana (34) and Celebration (19).
Weight class winners were: 101 pounds, Illiana Bonilla (SC), 100-100—200; 110, Annie Barberi (SC), 110-115—225; 119, Olivia Falkner (SC), 115-105—220; 129, Kenina Bonner (P), 100-125—225; 139, Sabrina Lineburgh, 115-115—230 (3-way tie, won on body weight); 164, Mallory Armstrong (SC), 115-120—235; 169, Kiera Johnson (P), 130-150—280; 183, Nesha Spell (P), 130-110—240), 199, Kendra Anderson (P), 170-160—330; Unlimited, Alexis Savillion (SC), 175-125—230.
