Solivita Theatre Group performs play at eatery

Solivita residents were recently treated to a holiday theatrical performance by the community’s own theatre group.
The Solivita Theatre Group presented “The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge” during several dinner theater performances on Nov. 13 and 14 at the community’s Mosaics restaurant.
“This play marked the first time that the Solivita Theatre Group performed in a dinner theater setting, but the feedback has been phenomenal and I suspect the group will do more performances at Mosaics in the future,” said John R. Corners, vice president of Lifestyles and Administration for Avatar Properties, the developer and owner of the Solivita community.
Solivita residents who participated in the production included Walter Cook (as the bailiff), Bob Blaze (as the judge), CJ Chiappone (as the defendant’s attorney and Solomon Rothchild), Fred Letchford (as Ebenezer Scrooge as well as the set designer), Neil Olcott (as Bob Cratchit and Jacob Marley), Ann Smith (as Mrs. Cratchit and Belle), Jim Timko (as Scrooge’s nephew Fred), Verena Letchford (as Sara Wainwright, Mrs. Dilber, producer and costume designer), Jeanne Bazemore (as the ghost of Christmas past), Gale Boepple (as Scrooge’s sister Fan as well as the show’s director), Art Maynard (as the ghost of Christmas yet to come) and Lynne Popowich (as the translator).
Solivita is an active adult community located in Central Florida. The community and its Lifestyles Department host hundreds of activities and clubs for residents, including the Solivita Theatre Group. The group performs at least one show annually and is already scheduled to perform “Mornings at Seven” in early March 2011.
Performances by the Solivita Theatre Group are open to Solivita residents and guests of residents. The group is always looking to add talented cast members, producers, directors and designers.
