The city of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration for the 2011 Spring Softball Season.
Returning teams can begin registration on Monday, Jan. 3. Registration for all other teams will begin on Monday, Jan. 10.
The registration deadline for all teams is on Friday, Jan. 21.
Registration is available for 13 different leagues, taking place seven days a week, with reduced registration fees! Leagues are available for all skill levels.
The following leagues are available and sanctioned by the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA):
• Sunday: co-ed recreational ($275); co-ed church ($275)
• Monday: men’s church ($275); men’s modified fast pitch($425)
• Tuesday: men’s recreational ($275)
• Wednesday: co-ed educational ($275); co-ed recreational ($275)
• Thursday: men’s competitive ($400); women’s league ($275)
• Friday: men’s church ($275); men’s modified fast pitch ($425)
• Saturday: men’s warehouse ($275); men’s recreational ($275)
Registration is accepted on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 6 p.m. or Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 7 p.m. at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex, 2500 Fortune Road.

City opens new field
The Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department held a grand opening for its first lighted multi-use natural turf field.
On Nov. 10, the grand opening and lighting ceremony for the lighted multi-use natural turf field at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex took place along with the first official game played under the lights by the Club Kissimmee Youth League participants.
Members of Greater Osceola United Soccer Club, city of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and city of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation staff attended the event.
For a nominal hourly fee, the turf field can be rented for practices for various sports such as lacrosse, soccer or football.
