On Dec. 2, VFW Post 3227, St. Cloud, had an awards presentation for Patriots Pen, Voice of Democracy, and Teacher(s) of the Year (K-5 and middle school).
Each winner was presented an engraved pen and pencil set and a check.
The Patriot’s Pen winner was Stephen Maxwell, from Narcoosee Middle School.
The Voice of Democracy winner was Jessica Holmes, from St. Cloud High School
The VFW teacher of the year for K-5 was Patti O'Brien, of Lakeview Elementary School.
The VFW teacher of the year for middle school was Sara Andriaccio, of Neptune Middle School.
Both teachers won the District 8 Teacher of the Year award and are now candidates for the state title.
