An arrest warrant was issued for a Give Kids the World employee after she allegedly stole an iPhone from a guest, Kissimmee police reports said.
On Dec. 11, officers responded to Give Kids the World, 210 S. Bass Road, Kissimmee, in reference to a grand theft. Officers spoke with an assistant social manager who said that they had received a call from a guest who had checked out on Dec. 9.  The guest stated that when she recovered her lost bag from the resort, it was missing her iPhone.
The guest told the resort that she was able to track activity on the lost phone and contacted one of the numbers that was receiving text messages from her phone. The victim later learned that a juvenile was in possession of her phone and that the juvenile’s mother, Eva Puchales-Marcano, 33, was the housekeeper that cleaned the villa where the victim and her family stayed. Kissimmee detectives contacted Puchales-Marcano about the stolen iPhone. Puchales-Marcano cooperated with detectives, who were able to recover the stolen phone.
Detectives obtained the warrant for Puchales-Marcano charging her with grand theft, which holds a $500 bond.
Give Kids The World Village is a nonprofit resort in Kissimmee for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
It was unknown at press time Wednesday whether Puchales-Marcano had been arrested.
