A Poinciana man was arrested and charged with armed carjacking after the victim discovered him in her car with a knife.

The investigation began on Tuesday at approximately 8:05 a.m. when deputies were responding to a suspicious person call at the Wachovia Bank, 351 Cypress Parkway in Poinciana. They were stopped by a female in front of the Walgreens, 395 Cypress Parkway, who told deputies she was just robbed at knifepoint. She told deputies she had exited Walgreens and was driving away in her black Toyota Camry when an unknown man, Miguel Angel Espiet, 51, of 654 Madrid Drive, Poinciana, sat up from the back seat and told her she was being robbed. When she jumped out of the car, Espiet attempted to steer the vehicle from the back seat, but it struck a street sign. He then fled the area. Detectives obtained witness information that led to Espiet at his home. He was charged with armed carjacking, kidnapping, aggravated assault, car burglary and grand theft. He was then taken to the Osceola County Jail.

The victim was not injured during the incident.
