More than 350 pounds of turkey were donated to the Osceola County Council on Aging Osceola County after Sunday's Golf on Turkey Day event at Kissimmee Bay Country Club and Remington Golf Club. One pound of turkey was donated for each golfer who participated.

“We are most appreciative of Kissimmee Bay and the golfers for donating the turkeys,” Rob Dent, marketing and development director for the council, said.

The council serves as a food bank for Osceola County and provides and delivers Thanksgiving dinner to seniors and less fortunate residents of Osceola County.

Dent did say while the 350 pounds of turkey was greatly needed, still more is required to feed the number of people expecting Thanksgiving dinner this year from the organization.

According to Dent, the council will deliver meals to nearly 300 homes and provide close to 100 food baskets to local families, which will include a turkey.

Additionally, 300 people are expected at the council's sit-down Thanksgiving feast today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their facility, located at 700 Generation Point in Kissimmee. Reservations are not required and all are welcome.

The council is still looking for volunteers for today's event and are accepting food donations throughout the holidays, including today, for food baskets.

Those interested can contact Connie Bellanceau, the volunteer center director, at 407-933-9525.
