A co-worker who started Mike Vick as his fantasy league quarterback wondered aloud Monday night if he should feel guilty about using him to post a dominant victory.
Why? Andy Reid doesn’t.

I told him that if he felt any twinge of guilt, he should give back those 714 points earned by the Philadelphia Eagles do-it-all-guy in an offensive output never seen before on a Monday night.
He should also join PETA, a group that’s all up in arms again. They were happy when he who was convicted of a felony three years ago was injured and struggling to breathe, let alone do his work. Vick has a big game, and suddenly he’s a bad guy again.
OK, what he did was very, very bad. And he paid a very, very bad price. He did two years in prison, and not just any prison — Leavenworth, the Oakland Raiders Black Hole of pokeys. And Roger Goodell made him sit out an additional year of football.
What more must he do to stamp his debt to society “Paid?” As long as he stays on the straight and narrow, let him get on with rebuilding his life.
If your dad got arrested for DUI, should he get his job back after serving his penalty? Depends. If he’s a salesman, absolutely. If he’s a pilot or a school bus driver, that’s different, and I’d line up to keep him from clocking back in.
NFL quarterback is just another job, and I don’t know if I’d want dodging linebackers and getting hit every other play as part of my job description.
Instead, I pick football games. It’s less hazardous — but I’m less accurate. Oh yeah, and I also honor, on a weekly basis, The Mighty News-Gazette Top 13. Without further ado ...
1. Cam Newton and the Auburn backfield. 2. The Auburn compliance department. 3. Oregon, but not its uniform designers. 4. The Ol’ Ball Coach. 5. FSU’s thunderfoot, Dustin Hoffman, er, Hopkins. 6. Oh, what the heck, Dustin Hoffman (he was great in Death of a Salesman). 7. David Garrard to Mike Thomas. 8. Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski. 9. Mike Vick to Jackson, Maclin, McCoy, et al. 10. Mike Vick to himself. 11. Louie Anderson to block (old Hollywood Squares joke). 12. The Fabulous Falcons. 13. Early turkey and Christmas shopping.
On to the picks:
UCF (-15) at Tulane: Well Knight fans, was it better to be ranked and lose than to never be ranked at all? Fiesty Knights by 17.
FSU (-6) at Maryland: Another 8 p.m. kickoff, another chance for the winning play to come near midnight. Unless Ralph Friedgen eats the ‘Noles kicker. FSU by 3, this time from only 53 yards.
Virginia Tech (-2) at Miami: A shame one team must lose, but gotta go with the better QB. Hokies by Tyrod Taylor.
Ohio State (-3) at Iowa: The Big-10 Flip A Coin Game Of the Week. I don’t have a coin. I’ll have to ask Cam Newton’s dad. Buckeyes by 1.
The paid professionals:
Cleveland at Jacksonville (-2): If the Jags have any more miracles left, they won’t be wasting them on the Browns. Colt McCoy’s team by 3.
Tampa Bay at San Francisco (-3): The 49ers are awful, but the Bucs are worse on the West Coast. Frisco by 5.
Green Bay (-3) at Minnesota: As a Packer, Brett Favre used to struggle in the Metrodome. He still does. Pack by 5.
Indianapolis at New England (-3): One team must lose, and there’s no edge for anybody here aside from home field. Um, OK. Pats by 3.
N.Y. Giants at Philadelphia (-3): I hope those PETA protesters show up at The Linc. And I hope the Philly fans are in usual form in response. Iggles by 7 after another Vick-tory.
Brian “Big Man” McBride’s Super Sniffer Upset Special: Colts by 2.
Rick Pedone says: G-men by 1, Miracle Jags by 2, Bucs by 1.
Last week: Elated Eagle (6-3, 60-42) Vick-timized Steamrolled Steeler (4-5, 55-47).
