Expect typical warm Florida temperatures this holiday season at Celebration Town Center, but that won’t stop the festivities at Now Snowing Nightly.
As the name implies, evenings in the downtown area of Celebration, starting Nov. 27 and continuing through Dec. 31, will feature snowfalls at 6, 7, 8 and 9 p.m.
But that is just the start of the fun, said Mike Nunez, director of public relations and marketing for Lexin Celebration Commercial, the company that operates the Town Center.
“This is our 12th annual Now Snowing event,” he said. “The tree lighting event from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 27 will feature live music, a special entrance by Santa Claus himself and family fun for everyone.”
Scheduled to appear will be 9-year-old Celebration resident Gina Marie Incandela. She is the Orlando Magic’s “lucky charm” and regularly sings the National Anthem at the team’s home games. She will be joined on stage by several other musicians that evening.
Now Snowing will feature strolling Charles Dickens carolers, photos with Santa, horse-drawn carriage rides, the Celebration Express train and the hourly snowfalls.
A Radio Disney holiday concert featuring All Star Weekend as well as surprise performers will take place at the Christmas Tree on Dec. 11.
“We are adding an all new ice rink this year,” Nunez said. “It will be set up on Market Street and open daily from 4 to 10 p.m. through Jan. 2.”
Nunez said the rink is made of a synthetic material so there is no problem about the surface melting. Visitors will be able to use it for 30 minutes at a time for a fee of $10, which includes rental of the skates.
Other than that event, Nunez said there is no admission and no parking fees for the music and other activities each evening during the holidays.
The grand finale of the season will be “Come Celebration New Year’s Eve”.
Live entertainment from Tami DJ, VonRay and Mo Geetz will take place from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. At midnight a 20-minute fireworks display will welcome in the new year.
On New Year’s Day, there will be ice skating, community performances and more taking place in the town center. The complete schedule will be announced soon and will be available at www.celebrationtowncenter.com.
Now Snowing Nightly is presented by Lexin Capital and sponsored in part by the Celebration Town Tavern and the Mona Lisa Suites Hotel.
