The Osceola County Board of County Commissioners announced that Omega Jenkins was selected as the employee of the month for November and for recently having received the Corrections Department’s Distinguished Service Award.
On April 4, while on his way to work, Jenkins spotted what he believed to be a traffic accident which had just occurred. He pulled his car over when he saw a vehicle that had rolled over deep in the marsh. Jenkins applied first aid to an injured 9-year-old boy.
According to an Osceola County press release, Jenkins did not have to stop to render aid or assistance on his way into work, as he was not on duty yet. His decision to stop and the actions he took while on the scene helped control what could have developed into an out-of-control situation, possibly leading to further injury.
