A teacher’s aide at New Beginnings Education Center is being charged with battery to a student.
On Nov. 8, the Kissimmee Police Department was contacted to investigate a battery that took place at the school. Officers contacted the 12-year-old victim’s mother and received a sworn statement from the victim, who stated that he was in class fighting with another student when the teacher’s aide, 38-year-old Latonyua Price, separated the two students. After the students were separated, Price slapped the victim on his upper back and neck several times, police reports said.
Detectives interviewed several witnesses and Price about the incident. Price was cooperating with detectives. An affidavit of prosecution summary will be completed charging Price with battery and will be sent to the State Attorney’s Office for review.
