Kung Fu Champions

The Shaolin Fighters of the St. Cloud Kung Fu Club won the Grand Championship at the second annual Warrior Team Challenge. The challenge consisted of eight events. Pink Halo hoops

Liberty High will host the Pink Halo boys basketball tournament Nov. 22-24 with proceeds to be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

Liberty, New Dimensions, Poinciana, Gateway, Celebration, Brandon, Trinity and Freedom high schools will participate.

Games begin Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m.

The Central Florida Officials Association is donating its services to the event, which is sponsored by Renee’s Renegades and the Osceola County School District.

Grand opening

The city of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department will host a grand opening for the new turf field at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The Club Kissimmee Youth League will play a short soccer match, marking the first official game to be played under the lights.

The Fortune Road Athletic Complex is at 2500 Fortune Road, Kissimmee.

Turkey donation

Kissimmee Bay Country Club and Remington Golf Club will donate 1 pound of turkey for each person who plays a round of golf Nov. 21 to the Osceola County Council on Aging.

Last year, the event generated donations of over 300 pounds of turkey to the Council on Aging, General Manager Buck Stein said.

USSSA softball

The city of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department will will host the USSSA Winter National mens qualifier softball tournament Dec. 3-5 to benefit the Terry Stewart Scholarship Fund.

The double-elimination tournament will be at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex. Registration is open through Nov. 26. The fee is $275 per team. Registration is limited to the first 16 teams in each division.

Teams can register in two divisions. The winners of each division will receive a paid berth to the Winter Nationals  at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex in February.

Rec basketball

The city of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department will begin accepting registration for the Kissimmee Youth Basketball League from through Dec. 8.

The fee is $50, which includes a jersey.  Registration after Dec. 8 will incur a $10 late fee.

Practices begin Jan. 3.  The season is from Jan. 22 to Feb. 26. Practice will be held one night a week at Denn John Middle School Gym, with games played on Saturdays at the Kissimmee Civic Center.

Teams are based on age: pee wee (age 7-8); midget (age 9-11); junior (age 12-14) and senior ( age 15-17).

Registration is accepted weekdays from noon to 5:30 p.m. at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex or by registering online at www.kissimmeeparks.org or by faxing the form to 407-847-8224.
