Due to cooler temperatures, the St. Cloud Parks and Recreation staff announced that there will be an adjustment to the hours of operation for the city’s splash pad. The new hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. (seven days a week). The splash pad is at Lakefront Park on Lakeshore Boulevard and the hours of operation vary throughout the year.
In the fall, when the morning hours are cooler, opening hours are changed to 9:30 a.m., and later, hours are adjusted to 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
The splash pad is closed for three months: December, January and February.
The spring hours are usually 9:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
During the summer, hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. As evening hours darken sooner, the evening setting is changed to 7 p.m.
These time adjustments throughout the year are based on ambient temperatures and they help the city in saving on utility and chemical costs.
“The splash pad opened about four years ago for those who enjoy frolicking in the water,” Aquatics Supervisor Beth Walters said. “It’s a great place for families to enjoy quality time together; it’s open to people of all ages, free of charge. The water is recycled, treated water that is tested daily. No pets are allowed near the splash pad.”
A sign is posted at the lakefront showing if the splash pad is open or closed.
