Gateway earned its second straight trip to the regional volleyball playoffs with a five game win in the 6A District 6 semifinals at Vero Beach High School.

The Panthers defeated Treasure Coast, 25-18, 14-25, 25-13, 20-25, 15-11 on Tuesday.

In a rematch of last year, Gateway will play host Vero Beach tonight for the district championship and the right to host a regional playoff quarterfinal match against the runner-up of District 6A-5 (Olympia or Dr. Phillips) on Tuesday.

St. Cloud and Osceola won quarterfinal matches this week, and played on Wednesday for their trip to the playoffs.

In the 4A District 6 tournament, St. Cloud downed Celebration on Monday, 25-14, 19-25, 25-11, 17-25, 15-6. The Bulldogs played defending district champion Harmony, Wednesday for a spot in tonight’s final.

The Kowgirls, hosting the 5A-5 tournament, defeated Liberty on Tuesday. They played Winter Haven in Wednesday’s semifinal. The championship is tonight at 7.
