Celebration notched the first district football victory in school history last Friday, meaning there’s only one thing left to do this week.

Do it again.

The Storm, fresh off a 28-21 win over 3A District 9 opponent Lake Nona, will try to knock off Sebring at home on Friday at 7 p.m.

Tyler Osorio caught first-quarter touchdown passes of 63 and 53 yards, wrapped around a 35-yard interception return by Jamiel Lowery for another score. The Storm (3-4) built a 21-0 lead over the Lions (0-6) that shrank a bit in the second half but was never relinquished.

“It was a good win for the kids, they were excited like they’d made the playoffs,” CHS Coach Ben Aarestad said. “It might be the biggest win in school history.”

The Lions made it 21-7 right before halftime, scoring on a fake field goal play, but Celebration popped the lead back to 28-7 on its first third-quarter drive, ending a 65-yard march with a Jake Rehrig 1-yard plunge.

Lake Nona scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to make it close.

“We had three other chances in the red zone that we didn’t score on, so it was a lot closer than we’d like,” Aarestad said. “But that’s part of the process of learning to win big games.”

Defensively, the Storm did a number on Lions’ quarterback and Michigan oral commitment Kevin Sousa. Zach Dyer had three of Celebration’s five sacks.

Sebring (4-2) began the year blowing out four weaker opponents before being on the other side of the fence the last two weeks against 3A-9 favorites Lake Wales (37-3) and Winter Haven (30-0).

“Hopefully they’re a little beat up and don’t think they have anything to play for now,” Aarestad said. “They’re going to spread it out, go four and five-wide and throw it around. We’ve got to be better on offense to win. We’ve got to run the ball and make a few big plays.”

Celebration, 1-3 in the district, travels to Winter Haven next week for its final 3A-9 contest for the season.

Lake Wales and Winter Haven meet Friday in the game that likely will decide the district championship.

With victories in two of their final three games, the Storm would become bowl eligible.

The Storm host Lakeland Christian for the regular season finale Nov. 5.
