Florida fall is beautiful and unique. The calendar says it’s the last week of October, but the weather says go out and do something. The season brings fall celebrations and the best weather to enjoy it.
Pick a pumpkin and support a good cause. Liberty High School’s Athletic Booster Club is selling pumpkins. The pumpkin patch is in front of the school, 4250 Pleasant Hill Road. The patch is open Monday through Friday from 3 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 7 p.m.
There are some events for kids to enjoy indoors, too. The Poinciana Branch Library will host a teen Halloween party Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Teens can have their faces painted spooky style and get ghost-hunting information from the Kissimmee Paranormal Investigators. Top off the night by making your own duct-tape trick-or-treat bag.
That same evening at the Poinciana Library, adults get to be silly, too. Master hypnotist Denis Oatley Hall will take volunteers from the audience and do things like making them quack like a duck. Bring a camera and a victim — I mean friend!
On Thursday, Oct. 28, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., school-age children are invited to trick-or-treat throughout the library. This will be followed by a magic show. Parents and their children will be amazed by the magic of Glen Foster.
The annual Association of Poinciana Villages’ Halloween party will be Sunday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Poinciana Community Center, 395 Marigold Ave. Children up to age 12 are invited to safely earn treats, play games and win prizes.
First Baptist Church of Poinciana’s Fall Fest ’10 will be Sunday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. The church is calling it the Hoppin’ Harvest Party, and promises it to be bigger and better than last year. Saber the White Tiger will be on display. There will be a petting zoo, hayride, bounce house, live entertainment, clowns, face-painting, candy, games and more. It’s at First Baptist Church of Poinciana, 601 Walnut St.
