Take a ghostly tour of Osceola County’s past at Halloween Eves at The Pioneer Village.

This is the third year for the event at the Pioneer Village in Kissimmee and it is a great venue for creepy Halloween thrills.

This year’s Halloween Eves, presented by the Osceola County Historical Society, is Friday and Saturday evening, Oct. 22 and 23, and Saturday evening, Oct. 30, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Small groups have a guide who takes them on a tour of the historical village where they encounter characters from Osceola County’s past.

This year’s tour includes Nick Pearce, the murderous barber of Narcoossee, who died in the Barber-Mizell feud—but doesn’t know it, Granny Barris, a Civil War widow who, after being stripped of all her possessions, will fight to the death to keep her last ration of food and Emma Johnson, the deranged young school teacher with a shocking past. These and several other highlighted characters are based on true stories that happened here in Osceola and neighboring counties.

The stage and settings for Halloween Eves at the village is the society’s four-acre museum village containing a variety of authentic late-1800s buildings. The Village is at 750 N. Bass Road (just off U.S. Highway 192 in Kissimmee.

Refreshments and snacks follow each tour.

Admission to Halloween Eves is $10 adults, $5 children 15 and under. Osceola County Historical Society members get a 50 percent discount. The event is not recommended for children ages 10 and under.

Proceeds from the event go toward the society’s continued work in historic preservation for Osceola County. For more information about the Pioneer Village, contact program coordinator Philip Jackson at 407-396-8644.
