This year is the 51st anniversary of the Miss Silver Spurs Pageant and the 37th anniversary of the Little Miss Silver Spurs Pageant, longtime traditions in Osceola County and a huge celebration is in the works for the February 2011 event.
Applications for both the Miss and Little Miss Silver Spurs Pageant are available. Osceola County young ladies interested in participating in this historical and traditional event can obtain an application at the Catfish Place in St. Cloud or download the form from www
.silverspursorodeo.com.
As the rodeo queens, Miss and Little Miss Silver Spurs promotes the Silver Spurs Riding Club through community events, speaking engagements and more. The queens and their courts also promote the bi-annual rodeo and other activities by providing educational facts about the rodeo and the agriculture way of life during the queen’s reign.
To be a Miss Silver Spurs contestant, young ladies must live in Osceola County, be 16-21 years of age and currently have good grades and be in good standing with their current school or have a high school diploma or GED. Contestants for the Little Miss Silver Spurs pageant must be between the ages 9-11 and live in Osceola County.
Contestants are judged on poise, personality, personal interview and speech. The Miss Silver Spurs contestants compete in horsemanship and must supply their own horse.
