To better serve patients and meet the growing need for digestive health care in the Central Florida community, Gastroenterology & Nutrition Specialists announces that board-certified gastroenterologist Kola Hisamuddin has joined the practice, which recently opened additional offices in Dr. Phillips and St. Cloud.
The Dr. Phillips office is at 9430 Turkey Lake Road in southwest Orlando, near Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, and the St. Cloud office is at 3114 17th St., St. Cloud. The practice continues to offer full-time offices in downtown Orlando and Kissimmee.
Along with founding partner M. Asif Mohiuddin, Kola provides a full range of digestive health care, including video capsule endoscopy, colon cancer screening/colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, feeding tube placement, esophageal acid testing, esophageal motility testing and lactose intolerance testing. Conditions treated include irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, acid reflux disease, stomach ulcers, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, liver diseases, hepatitis B and C and gall stones.
Kola is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. He completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Case Western Reserve University at MetroHealth in Cleveland, Ohio, where he served as chief fellow for gastroenterology. Kola was the recipient of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America’s sponsored Inflammatory Bowel Diseases fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. He earned his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India, and completed additional medical training at the University of Nottingham, in Nottingham, United Kingdom, and the University of Aberdeen Hospitals, in Aberdeen, United Kingdom.
“Dr. Kola trained with some of the country’s leaders in gastrointestinal health and came to us with stellar credentials,” Mohiuddin said. “Best of all, he shares our personalized approach to patient care.”
Mohiuddin, also board-certified in gastroenterology, completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Louisiana State University Medical Center along with a specialized clinical nutrition fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, and a one-year gastroenterology research fellowship focused on esophageal disease at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. He has served as medical director of endoscopy at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
