Once again, the Stonegate Women’s Golf Association of Solivita is honoring the Osceola County Council on Aging by choosing the nonprofit social service organization to receive proceeds from its annual charity golf tournament.
This year’s tournament will be Thursday, Nov. 4, and is open to not only players living in the Solivita community, but for players outside adult community. Registration is $75 including green fees, cart and lunch. The Oaks course is the venue for the tournament set among the natural landscape of the Solivita community.
According to a council press release, many gated communities have a reputation of closing their minds and eyes to the community outside of their gates. Solivita is not in that category. Linda Cox-Dina and her committee of residents ensured Solivita em-braced the community by choosing local charities to be the recipients of the tournament proceeds. The Humane Society of Polk County is the second charity selected to receive proceeds.
“We know how important the council is to the residents of Poinciana and even Solivita,” Cox-Dina stated in the press release. “With unemployment so high and needs for services such as the food pantry, the Solivita community is stepping up to do everything it can to help our neighbors.”
There will be active bidding on the raffle and silent auction items donated for the event. Sponsorships for the event include the platinum, gold and silver sponsor levels. Businesses also can donate, raffle or silent auction items.
For sponsor information on the tournament, contact Cox-Dina, tournament committee chair, at 863-496-4073, or Robert Dent, council marketing director, at 407-846-8541.
