Osceola County’s leading swimming teams meet at the Osceola YMCA pool Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. when Harmony visits Osceola.

Harmony’s boys are unbeaten (9-0) this season. Harmony’s girls are 6-3.

Osceola counters with a solid squad that recently competed against 3A-3 powerhouses Olympia and Boone.

“The Boone one was frustrating because we had a great chance of beating them, but we were missing one of our top girls and we didn’t have diving, which always scores us big points,” OHS girls coach Krystle Singleton said.

Harmony coaches Terry Brown and Lori O’Rourke sound much like Singleton and OHS boys coach Trish Abell about their teams.

“We are extremely proud of how well our team has improved since the start of the season,” Brown said. “But, we still have a long way to go to meet our district aspirations. It definitely has been one of our favorite teams to coach.”

Singleton said, “This group of girls has worked harder as a whole than any group I’ve coached. We’ve had a ton of brand new swimmers who have contributed.”

Although Tuesday’s meet will earn one team temporary bragging rights, the coaches agree that the OBC meet later this month and the district meets next month are more important.

“The kids have been focused on district competition,” Brown said. “We will have to remind them that (the OHS meet) is coming up. It will be a tough meet.”
