Florida Christian College in Kissimmee announced that it will inaugurate William K. Behrman Friday as its fifth president.
Behrman has served in several positions at FCC since 1998, including vice president of institutional development, then chief financial officer and interim president since May 2009. The board of trustees unanimously named him as president in February.
Inauguration ceremonies for Behrman, who has been married 27 years and has two children, will be at 3 p.m. in the Chapman Center of Florida Christian College, which sits on 40 acres near Osceola Heritage Park.
Committed to New Testament Christianity, FCC provides a Christian education for leaders of the next generation, dependent on understanding and applying God's word, according to a college press release. FCC has a regional and national accreditation.
“We have taught, mentored and graduated hundreds of alumni who are serving all over the world as preachers, disciples, administrators, youth workers, children’s workers, missionaries, counselors, teachers, management/business leaders, politicians, professors, health care workers and attorneys,” Berhman said, adding that students are actively in-volved in local churches and various non-profit community programs.
Regarding his vision and the strategic plan, Behrman said FCC is researching development of a program in nonprofit management/organizational leadership “because of the need in churches and para-church organizations for persons with those abilities.”
He added that “we will continue to aggressively pursue agreements with institutions offering programs not offered at FCC itself that will complement the student's preparation for ministry.” The college offers degrees both online and on campus.
Sports programming also is being expanded to more effectively serve a growing and diverse population. FCC currently fields intercollegiate teams in men’s basketball and women’s volleyball. The college plans to launch two new intercollegiate teams during the next school year, currently slated as men’s baseball and women’s soccer.
