The fall means movies, movie and more movies at the Enzian theater.

There is something for everyone including film festivals and classics such as Carrie, Night of the Living Dead and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Here is a look at some of the upcoming offerings from the Orange County alternative theater source:

 

October

Beyond Bollywood: The 16th Annual South Asian Film

Festival, Oct. 2-4.

The three-day festival, co-presented with the Asian Cultural Association, celebrates South Asian (India/Pakistan) culture, heritage, and film artistry.

A Movie Joint Presentation:  Night of the Living Dead (1968) preceded by  King of the Zombies. The special 16mm screening is Oct. 9 at 11:59 p.m. Admission is $10.

George A. Romero’s remarkable debut set the template for the zombie film and still remains a cult phenomena even after decades it’s initial release in the late sixties.

FilmSlam: Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.

FilmSlam is a monthly indie film showcase and competition open to Florida filmmakers and students. This series empowers audience members to select each month’s winner, who then advances to participate in Enzian’s Brouhaha Film & Video Showcase. Admission is $5.

Cult Classic: Carrie (1976), Oct. 12 at 9:30 p.m.

Offering some of the hippest and edgiest movies from decades past, Enzian’s Cult Classic lineup brings classic favorites back in 35mm for everyone to enjoy for only $5.   Brian DePalma’s two-time Academy Award nominated film follows a young teenage girl (Sissy Spacek) who wreaks telekinetic vengeance on her high school tormentors.

Popcorn Flicks in the Park:

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Popcorn Flicks in the Park features classic films for the whole family and all attendees receive complimentary popcorn.  This free community event takes place under the stars in Central Park on Park Avenue.  A classic of psychological science fiction and suspense, the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers is often interpreted as a political metaphor about McCarthyism.

A Movie Joint Presentation: Re-Animator (1985), Oct. 16 at 11:59 p.m.

A dedicated student at a medical college and his girlfriend become involved in bizarre experiments centering around the re-animation of dead tissue when an odd new student arrives on campus. Tickets are $10.

A Movie Joint Presentation: Child’s Play (1988), Oct. 23 at 11:59 p.m.

Young Andy Barclay gets the doll he wanted. However, he did not know it was alive.  The classic screen debut of Chucky. Tickets are $5.

10 Movies You Should See on the Big Screen Before You Die:

The Bride of Frankenstein (1935), Oct. 24 at 12:30 p.m.

Enzian celebrates its 25th anniversary with a year-long Sunday lunch series of the ten legendary cinematic masterpieces to see on Enzian’s big screen – chosen by the community.

Dr. Frankenstein creates a new creature, a woman (Elsa Lanchester), to be the companion of the monster (Boris Karloff) in this classic sequel celebrating its 75th anniversary.

2nd Annual Haunted Swamp:  Walk of Terror, Oct. 22, 23, 29 –31

Unleashing one of the hippest, Halloween parties and events in Central Florida, Enzian’s 2nd annual Haunted Swamp: Walk of Terror 2011 is a thousand feet of fright through Eden Bar’s tangled disemboweled backwoods.

Cult Classic: The Tingler (1959), Oct. 26 at 9:30 p.m.

Enzian’s Cult Classic series brings back this William Castle fun horror film with Hollywood icon Vincent Price as a coroner with an unusual discovery about fear. $5.

Grindhouse Presentation:  City of the Living Dead aka Gates of Hell (1980), Oct. 29 at 11:59 p.m.

A reporter and a psychic race to close the Gates of Hell after the suicide of a clergyman causes them to open, allowing the dead to rise from the grave.  Directed by Italian horror maestro Lucio Fulci. Admission is $10.

Grindhouse Presentation:  Dr. Butcher M.D. aka Zombie Holocaust (1980), Oct. 30 at 11:59 p.m.

He’s a depraved, homicidal killer...and he makes house calls.  Mad doctors, cannibals, serial killers, and zombies – this gore-fest has it all. Tickets are $10.

November

12th Annual Central Florida Jewish Film Festival, Nov. 7 – 8.

A two-day festival, co-presented with the Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando, featues international films with universal themes and a particular relevance to the Jewish community.

Cult Classic: American Splendor (2003), Nov. 9 at 9:30 p.m.

An original mix of fiction and reality illuminates the life of the late comic book hero everyman Harvey Pekar, perfectly played by Paul Giamatti in the Oscar-nominated gem. Tickets are $5.

Popcorn Flicks in the Park: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.

The free film at Central Park on Park Avenue stars

Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell in the 1950’s classic featuring the hit song, Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend.

FilmSlam, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m.

The monthly indie film showcase and competition continues. Admission is $5.

Cult Classic: Run Lola Run (1998), Nov. 30 at 9:30 p.m.

A young woman in Germany has 20 minutes to find and bring 100,000 Deutsch-marks to her boy-friend before he robs a supermarket. Lola reigns as one of the hippest international action films of the last decade. Admission is $5.

December

18th Annual Brouhaha Film & Video Showcase, December 4 - 5

The premier outlet for locally produced films and videos, the best work from film schools statewide and monthly FilmSlam winners, and a fun-filled gathering for lovers of independent film. Representing the entire spectrum of Florida’s immense talent pool, the best of Brouhaha finds its way into the Florida Film Festival.

Cult Classic: Rushmore (1998), Dec. 14 at 9:30 p.m.

This Golden Globe-nominated Wes Anderson comedy stars Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman.

Cult Classic: Saturday Night Fever (1977), Dec. 28 at 9:30 p.m.

Nominated for the 1978 Best Actor Academy Award, John Travolta portrays a Brooklyn youth who feels his only chance to get somewhere is to be the king of the disco floor. Tickets $5.
