Harmony High School vet program helps rescued pets

A partnership between the Veterinary Assisting Program at Harmony High School, Dr. Robert Lee Godwin, Dr. Matt Walter, and the Pawsitive Action Foundation provides medical care to rescued dogs and cats.
Pawsitive Action Foundation facilitates essential medical care, such as spay and neuter procedures, and facilitates placement in adoptive homes for neglected and abandoned dogs and cats. Godwin and Walter provide pro-bono veterinary services for the rescued animals using the Veterinary Assisting operating room at Harmony High School each Thursday.
Harmony Vet Assisting students serve as assistants to the doctors during the operations and observe the procedures from pre-op checkup to post-op recovery through an observation window to the operating room and can hear commentary from the doctor while the procedures are taking place.
This unique partnership brings the veterinary office into the classroom and provides unprecedented access to veterinary care procedures for students on a regular basis – helping the community by rescuing unwanted animals and providing real-world educational opportunities.
