Osceola County 4-H Youth Program is starting a new club called 4-H Butterfly WINGS.
The club is for those in the fourth through eighth grade. Youth will learn about the natural environment and how to be “citizen scientists” by exploring the world of butterflies.
Being a part of the 4-H program helps youth learn new skills, make friends, be leaders and be involved in their communities. 4-H clubs also give youth the opportunity to interact with caring adults.
Most 4-H clubs meet monthly, do community service projects, take field trips and have the opportunity to participate in activities outside of the county. Parents are expected to be actively involved in supporting their child in 4-H by providing the necessary 4-H project supplies, staying informed of 4-H meetings, events and activities and assisting the 4-H club leader, as needed.
Interested families are invited to attend an informational meeting Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Extension Services Building in Osceola Heritage Park. 4-H Butterflies WINGS club meetings are scheduled on a monthly basis on the first Wednesday of every month from 6 to 7 p.m. at Extension Services.
If children choose to join 4-H, an $8 fee is collected at a later date.
