An Orlando man was killed in an Osceola County traffic crash Tuesday after he entered the oncoming lane on Narcoossee Road and hit an SUV head-on for unknown reasons, Florida Highway Patrol reports said.

Jessie Melendez, 55, of Orlando, was driving a 2001 Honda vehicle south at about 2:20 p.m. on Narcoossee Road. According to patrol reports, he then entered the northbound lane. After one vehicle in the oncoming lane swerved out of the way to avoid a collision, Melendez crashed into a 2007 Buick SUV driven by Pamela Holasek, 41, of St. Cloud.

A 2009 Dodge van driven by Nicholai Menkin, 27, of Winter Park, driving behind Holasek, tried to swerve to avoid the crash but hit the back of her SUV.

Melendez was pronounced dead at St. Cloud Regional Medical Center.

Holasek was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
