Poinciana returns to action at East River for a 4A District 7 contest Friday at 7:30 p.m.

After last week’s open date, the Eagles, 0-2, will try a few new things at East River with personnel and scheme changes, Coach Michael Timpson said.

“You have to try new things,” he said. “The kids seem to be doing well with it, although it’s hard to read what teenagers are thinking.”

East River is 2-0 after a 24-7 win over Cypress Creek. The Falcons beat University in the season opener. Thunderstorms suspended a Week 2 game against Evans.

“They run pro-style (offense), but they mix it up a little,” Timpson said.

Timpson said his team must play with more intensity than it did during a 27-6 loss against Palm Bay Heritage.

“We’ve done some things (during the open week) because they came out flat in that one,” Timpson said.

“We’re getting better. We’re making some progress.”
