Osceola County Historical Society looking for eerie characters for its Halloween Eves

The Osceola County Historical Society is presenting its third annual Halloween Eves at The Pioneer Village event on Friday and Saturday evening, Oct. 22 and 23, and Saturday evening, Oct. 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. on all dates.
The society is looking for a variety of acting talents who can perform characterizations, dress as atmosphere actors to roam the Village, perform improvisational material, or tell eerie stories to event visitors. Especially being sought this year are rowdy and mysterious “cowboy” types for the 1871 Barber-Mizell feud.
Some of the characters to be cast include Nick Pearce, the murderous barber of Narcoossee, who died in the Barber-Mizell feud but doesn’t know it, Granny Barris, a Civil War widow who, after being stripped of all her possessions, will fight to the death to keep her last ration of food and there is the highly popular (with visitors) Emma Johnson, the deranged young school teacher with a shocking past. These and several other highlighted characters are based on true stories that happened here in Osceola and neighboring counties.
Original ideas and material also are welcome, and having a knowledge of Osceola County history is a plus, but not necessary. All performers are required to attend one technical rehearsal. Otherwise, performers are responsible for rehearsing their characterizations on their own time.
The stage and settings for Halloween Eves at the village is the society’s four-acre museum village containing a variety of authentic late-1800s buildings. The village is at 750 N. Bass Road (just off U.S. Highway 192 in Kissimmee.
