Poinciana Residents for Smart Change will hold its third neighborhood meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m., at Lake Marion Elementary School.
The county commissioners of both Polk and Osceola Counties, in partnership with the Association of Poinciana Villages management and Avatar Properties, are supporting the opportunity to update residents of the Village 7 area. Topics include new developments, crime and other issues for residents.
Lake Marion Creek Elementary is on Lake Marion Creek Drive.

The September meeting of Poinciana AARP Chapter 3520 will be today at noon at the Poinciana Community Center. For the cost of $4, a spaghetti lunch, including salad, drinks and dessert will be served. This meeting also will include
the group’s nomination of officers.
In order to be a member of AARP Chapter 3520, you must also be a member of AARP nationally. Dues are $3 a year and it meets every third Thursday at the Poinciana Community Center., 395 Marigold Ave.

Discovery Intermediate School will hold its Back-to-School Dance Friday, from 6 to 9 p.m. The dance will be held in the school’s cafeteria. Students may purchase tickets for $3 in the cafeteria during their lunch period.

KOA Elementary School is holding a Parents Workshop, “Passport-Parents Ensuring Success.” This workshop is for parents of children in second through fourth grade.
The parents who attend will learn new strategies to help their children with attitudes, organization strategy skills, test-taking and other student success skills.
These workshops will be every Wednesday during the month of September at 9 a.m. This Parents Workshop also is being held at Chestnut Elementary School for Science an Engineering on different dates. Contact Kathe Weisheyer, Community Involvement Liaison, 407-870-4862, for those dates and times.
