Harmony on break after winmover GHS

Just like last year, the schedule dictates that Harmony won’t keep up an offensive frenzy that saw the Longhorns pile up 105 points in its two games.

The formidable foe they’ll see this week: the bye week.

Harmony will get two weeks to prepare for its opening 4A District 7 game against Liberty after a 55-10 pasting of Gateway on Friday.

“We’re not crazy about it, that’s just how the schedule came together, but it’s not terrible,” HHS Coach Dayne Brown said. “I guess I like having two weeks to prepare for Liberty; we can spend this week on technique and where we need to improve.”

Harmony tallied 325 yards of offense on Friday, impressive considering the clock ran continuously in the second half thanks to a 41-0 lead at halftime. Quarterback Adam Harvey threw for 138 of the yards, completing five of nine passes, and three went for touchdowns to C.J. Clayton (62 yards), Christian Acevedo (18) and Cody Allen (30).

Acevedo (five rushes, team-high 79 yards) also scored on a 52-yard run and an 85-yard return of the second-half kickoff. Clayton also scored on runs of 7 and 6 yards, and Tyler Ocasio had a 12-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

On defense, Alex Githens had 14 tackles, and Zac Williams and Daniel Foshee each broke up a pair of passes.

Still, all was not flawless according to Brown.

“We’re still missing some reads and not making the right steps, just some small mistakes that we

didn’t make against Lake Nona (in a 50-17 season-opening win),” he said. “On offense we did stuff based on what they gave us. On defense I thought the secondary did a nice job.”

In Harmony’s two games, Acevedo and Clayton have combined for over 500 rushing yards and 12  touchdowns.
