Ground-breaking planned for Walk-N-Sticks Park

Osceola County Commissioner John Quiñones and county staff will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. to mark the commencement of improvements to the county’s newest park, Walk-N-Sticks, in the Buenaventura Lakes community.

Improvements to the 33.6 acre park will take place in phases, with the first phase to include a pedestrian pathway, a playground, restrooms, a pavilion, enhanced landscaping, irrigation, improved parking, an entrance sign, signage throughout the park and open green space, according to a county press release.

Residents abutting the park also will see improved drainage with enhancements to stormwater ponds on the property.

“By adding this facility, residents of district 2 will enjoy a place for families that provides high-quality experience and quality recreation opportunities for our residents and visitors,” Quiñones stated in the county press release.

Construction of the first phase will begin in mid-October with a budget of approximately $400,000. The groundbreaking will take place at 301 Buenaventura Blvd., the former location of the Walk-N-Sticks golf course clubhouse.
