Cassandra Green, 33, of Orlando, and her 2-year-old son, Steven Holtzapple Jr., were killed Wednesday evening in a crash with a semi at the Florida’s Turnpike entrance on State Road 60 in rural Osceola County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the semi, driven by Reynaldo Santos, 68, of Boca Raton, was traveling west on State Road 60. Green, driving a Chevrolet pickup, was heading south, exiting the ramp from the turnpike.

As Santos was making a turn to travel northbound onto the turnpike ramp, he lost control in the curve. Green was on the ramp in the left turn lane. The left side of the semi collided with the left side of Green’s vehicle. The semi then overturned onto Green’s vehicle, trapping both occupants.
