Osceola County Sheriff’s Office detectives Aug. 25 arrested 23-year-old Kristian Leigh Poitras, of 2750 1st St., St. Cloud, and charged him with 50 counts of capital sexual battery.

The investigation began in mid-July when deputies took a report of possible sexual abuse from the 8-year-old victim’s father.

The victim was interviewed by the Sheriff’s Office Child Protection Team on Aug. 9 and indicated that on numerous occasions, Poitras, a relative, would watch the girl at his residence and at the victim’s home. The victim told authorities Poitras forced her to have intercourse with him on at least 50 occasions when she was 6 and 7 years old.

On Aug. 25, detectives brought Poitras in for questioning and he cooperated with investigators. Based on the information provided by the victim and Poitras, he was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail with no bond.
