At this stage of high school football practice, one week before the Kickoff Classics, no news is good news.

And, several of Osceola County’s coaches are happy to report, they have no news.

“No injuries, so everything is good for now,” Osceola High Coach Doug Nichols said.

The Kowboys recently added a Sept. 25 road game at Agape Christian to complete their regular season schedule. It is a rare Saturday night date.

“They told us that it might have to be a Saturday because they share a field with Jones (High),” Nichols said. “As opposed to traveling halfway across the state, like we probably would have to, this isn’t bad.”

The Kowboys travel to Longwood Lyman for their Kickoff Classic next week.

Celebration Coach Ben Aarestad said his team will scrimmage this evening in preparation for next week’s Kickoff Classic against Lake Howell.

“Nothing new to report, just working hard and trying to get better every day,” Aarestad said.

Celebration, which played Satellite in the season opener last year, will instead open the regular season Sept. 3 against Mountain Vista, Colo., at  ESPN Wide World of Sports as part of the Kaylee Scholarship triple-header. The game begins at 7 p.m. Mountain Vista was a Class 5A Colorado playoff team last season.

Oak Ridge and West Orange also will play Colorado opponents at the ESPN complex.

Harmony Coach Dayne Brown said that practice has gone well for the Longhorns, who will host Winter Springs for their Kickoff Classic next week. Brown said a young group of receivers has been impressive.

St. Cloud Coach Bill Buldini said his team is adjusting to a new even-front defense.

“It’s going fine,” he said.

The Bulldogs host Bishop Moore next week.

Gateway Coach Marlin Roberts said the Panthers will scrimmage Friday afternoon.

Gateway visits Satellite Beach, Liberty welcomes East Ridge and Poinciana travels to First Academy for Kickoff Classics. Liberty and East Ridge play next Thursday.
