The city of Kissimmee last week announced that the Employee of the Month for August is Kissimmee Police Det. Andrew “Andy” Miville.
Miville has been employed with the city for five years and is known for his determination and fortitude, a city press release said.
One particular example of this is the method he used to resolve a complicated homicide case, city officials said. Several witnesses were in the area at the time, but no one volunteered to give a statement. Miville was assigned as the lead detective and he quickly designated tasks to the other detectives, prioritized the workload and repeatedly visited the scene of the crime to interview the residents.
Through his tenacity and the follow up of all leads, Miville eventually obtained sworn statements that led to the arrest and incarceration of a violent felon, the press release stated.
Having worked in the department before, he is a veteran employee who mentors less-experienced officers. He often looks for a better way to complete tasks, constantly critiquing the ways things are done to improve his level of service and effectiveness, city officials said.
Officials added that Miville goes out of his way to help fellow employees and members of the community. He often volunteers his time, talents and energy to many causes. Miville’s work ethic is second to none – he is a valued employee and the city was proud to recognize him, the press release stated.
