Up and coming companies are exciting to watch, especially when they show great potential. Now have that company be entertainment-based and it’s hot. Throw in a couple of Poinciana residents and it’s all of the above, plus a story you should know. The two Poinciana residents are Omar Warren and Frank Streety and they are on the board of directors for 360 Entertainment International.
360 Entertainment was developed and founded by company chairman Don Fryson. The goal is to bring a new element to hip-hop — to utilize positive hip-hop to entertain, educate and empower. 360 provides a venue where talented youth in the positive hip-hop market can be heard through all media, including the Internet.
This is a chance to change the way hip-hop is viewed around the world. Positive, decent lyrics answers the call from parents, teachers, pastors, community leaders, youth organizers and law enforcement to use contemporary music in a non-offensive way.
Omar Warren has been a resident of Poinciana for nearly a decade. Formerly branch manager of Regions Bank Poinciana, Warren has been committed to helping Poinciana youth. He has been MC Professor Stymie for Poinciana High School’s Poetry Slam for the past three years. Warren is the leader behind Kiss Me with Spoken Word, a group of youth that meets weekly at the Poinciana Community Center. He also volunteers annually to speak at Poinciana area high schools. Warren is the perfect fit for chief strategy officer for 360 Entertainment International.
Our other Poinciana resident is Frank Streety, better known as Frank “Shake-n-Bake” Streety. Streety was a member of the Harlem Globetrotters from 1972-1977. The nickname Shake-n-Bake comes from his signature move. Streety is CEO of 360 ESPAN Foundation. The goal of 360’s ESPAN Foundation is to positively impact the lives of children using the influence of education, sports, the arts, health and wellness to strengthen the communities. The foundation is working with nationwide grassroots organizations that provide learning opportunities for children.
Everyone can be a part of the 360 ESPAN Foundation by attending the Back to School Bash Saturday, Aug. 7. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Willy’s Wieners, just a short drive from Poinciana in historic downtown Kissimmee, 108 E. Dakin Ave. Enjoy games, music and raffles. For $4.75, you may purchase a meal of hot fog (with all the fixings), beans, chips and a fountain drink. Proceeds will be donated to A Gift for Teachers, Osceola County. Frank “Shake-n-Bake” Streety will be there. While supporting a worthy cause, young hoopsters may pick up a tip or two.
360 Entertainment is quickly gaining momentum. Just last week, they gained a new board member, Doc Rivers. Rivers is the head coach of the Boston Celtics, 2010 Eastern Conference champs.
Big things are happening for 360 Entertainment International and having that little Poinciana connection is a very cool thing. It shows the diversity and potential of our community.
