A Kissimmee man was fatally injured when he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Boggy Creek Road on foot.
Phillip Michael Mikolajek, 30, was killed while trying to cross Boggy Creek Road south of Gus Road at 9:17 p.m. Monday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Carlos R. Rivera Hernandez, 53, of Kissimmee, was driving south on Boggy Creek Road when Mikolajek walked directly into his vehicle’s path. The left front side of the vehicle hit Mikolajek, causing him to strike the windshield and be ejected, landing on the roadway.
Hernandez drove his vehicle onto the right grassy shoulder, spinning counter-clockwise and finally coming to a rest facing east. The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
The crash was not alcohol-related.
