Seven members of the St. Cloud Aquatics Team (SCAT) recently qualified for the State Games of America at San Diego in 2011.

Andres Vega, Savannah Steele, Kenton Scott, Sam Steele, John Roberts, Randy Dunton and Lucas Roberts placed among the top three of their respective age-group events at the Florida State Games in Gainesville last month to earn the invitations.

Lucas Roberts won two first-place medals in the 50 freestyle and the 100 free. He was third in the 200 free.

The SCAT 400 free relay won with Lucas and John Roberts, Dunton and Scott.

The 400 medley relay was third with Dunton, Scott, John Roberts and  Sam Steele.

Andres Vega and Savannah Steele were third in the 200 free.

Scott was second in the 100 free and 50 free.

Dunton, who graduated recently from St. Cloud High, is a four-time high school state qualifier and is one of the most decorated swimmers in Sunshine State Games history with more than 25 medals.

Scott, a 2009 St. Cloud graduate, was one of the schools’s top sprinters and he teamed with Dunton  to set several school relay record.

Every non-Olympic year, the National Congress of State Games hosts the State Games of America.

The event is open to all medalists from each of the 32 State Games programs.
