St. Cloud’s City Council will honor its former city fire chief before holding public hearings and acting on resolutions at its meeting tonight.
There will be a presentation in recognition of Charlie Lewis’ retirement after 16 years of service to the city. His last day with the department is July 1. Bill Johnston has been appointed St. Cloud’s acting fire chief. Along with recognizing Lewis, the council also will make the presentation of the city’s employee of the month.
There will second and final public hearing for:
• An ordinance assigning a future land use designation of “public/institutional” to approximately 26 acres at St. Cloud High School.
• Amending the city’s comprehensive plan regarding maximum residential density within certain areas having a commercial future land use designation.
• Amending the land development code regarding off-street and bicycle parking minimum requirements.
The council also will act on the following resolutions:
• Granting conditional use to operate a “child care center — day nurseries and kindergarten” at 2375 Canoe Creek Road.
• Declaring the Water Tower property at 1313 Kentucky Ave., as partial surplus property that would be leased to New Cingular Wireless PCS, with initial annual rent set at $41,674.
• Authorizing the mayor to enter into an extension of an agreement between the city and American Infrastructure Technologies Corporation for sanitary sewer resin-injected, cured-in-place pipe rehabilitation.
• Authorizing the city manager and city finance director to pursue and obtain permanent financing through debt instruments or other financing contracts to pay for the cost of acquisition of property and construction, improvement, widening and realignment of Nolte Road.
• Approving the settlement of eminent domain litigation with Meritage Homes of Florida and Greater Construction Corp. related to the acquisition of property and a temporary construction easement for $14,000 plus $3,000 in attorney fees.
Residents can address the council be completing a sign-in form prior to the meeting.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 1300 Ninth St., in Council Chambers.
