Luis Angel Pagan Rodriguez, the 39-year-old Kissimmee man already charged with filing a false report during the investigation of last month’s homicide on Old Tampa Highway, is now the third man accused of first-degree murder.

The body of 39-year-old Angel Luis Pagan, was found dumped in the ditch along the highway the night of May 11. Shortly after Osceola County Sheriff's Office deputies found the body, they met with an injured Pagan Rodriguez at Osceola Regional Medical Center. The registered felon said he was at Lake Tohopekaliga in Kissimmee when a robber began choking him, demanded his watch and then shot him in the head.

Detectives later determined he had fabricated the story and was  connected to Pagan’s death. He was arrested May 15 for filing a false report. On Tuesday, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Pagan Rodriguez, this time with a murder charge. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail without bond.

Detectives believe two other men, already charged with first-degree murder, were involved in the homicide, which might have been drug-related, agency spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain said.

Poinciana resident Jonathan Beharry, a mutual acquaintance of Pagan Rodriguez and the deceased Pagan, was arrested in New York City on May 20. Detectives had to track Beharry, 23, from Miami International Airport to Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and then to Toronto, Canada. From Canada, he drove back into the U.S. He was extradited to Osceola County to face a first-degree murder charge and is now in Osceola County Jail without bond.

Detectives say Jeremy S. Rodriguez, a 24-year-old resident of Central Islip, N.Y., assisted with discarding evidence in the homicide. Rodriguez also was arrested in New York City and charged with accessory after the fact and first-degree murder.

None of the accused, nor the victim, were related, Lizasuain said.
