Give Kids The World Village is participating in the Pepsi Refresh Project, aiming to earn one of just two substantial cash grants in the country this month.
On June 1, Give Kids The World’s proposal “Vote 2 Refresh” was accepted as part of Pepsi’s nationwide grant program. Give Kids The World’s idea has since jumped to No. 12 – with more than 200 other ideas competing in the same grant-level category.
The Central Florida community can support Give Kids The World by logging onto the program’s website at www.refresheverything.com/givekidstheworld and voting for the village each day. If Give Kids The World earns the most number of votes in June, it could earn Pepsi’s highest Refresh grant: $250,000. In addition, the village would be the first organization in Florida to earn one of the monetary awards since Pepsi launched the Pepsi Refresh Project in January.
“This is a very exciting program for us to take part in,” Give Kids The World President Pamela Landwirth said. “It is the perfect way for our community to help us continue to provide magical vacations for the precious children and families we serve. We need everyone to give us just a few moments a day to vote for our Refresh Project proposal.”
Give Kids The World, of Central Florida, has served more than 100,000 children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from all 50 states and 72 countries. Families stay in the village’s onsite, whimsical two-bedroom, two bathroom villas.
If Give Kids The World earns the Pepsi Refresh grant, the funds will be used to renovate the villas, which opened with the village in the 1989, ensuring they are inviting, magical and safe. Each villa is fully wheelchair accessible and able to meet the unique needs of its special guests. More than 6,500 families stay in the Village’s villas each year and the accommodations are a critical and memorable part of the Give Kids The World Wish vacation experience.
